Made with the finest natural ingredients of just fruit, oats and seeds, these gorgeous vegan bars are the ultimate midday treat. Better yet, they come in three different flavours so there is something to suit everyone’s taste! From our super chocolatey Cocoa Brownie, to our scrumptious Strawberry Muffin and delightful Apple Crumble snack bars you will be spoilt for choice!
During Lockdown we all went a bit banana bread crazy! Why not keep that memento going now the kids are back to school? Vegan banana bread is the perfect addition to any lunchbox. Simply swap out the non-vegan friendly ingredients like butter or eggs, with vegetable or sunflower oil and you will have all the moisture you need to make a delicious cake. Great way to use up any bananas you have lying around! As if that wasn’t enough banana goodness, why not try our gorgeous Banoffee Pie Overnight Oats recipe.
Whether you’re needing breakfast on the go or simply need a pick me up before lunch, muesli bars are a great snack idea. Made with dried fruits and nuts, they are so easy to make at home. Why not make a day out of it and bake with the kids on the weekend? Then come Monday, you’ll have a delicious homemade snake to pack in their lunchbox.
One of the easiest kids snacks to whip up is carrots and hummus. Just simply chop your delicious carrots into bite size sticks and buy a gorgeously smooth hummus to accompany it. Or if you’re feeling adventurous why not whip up a batch of homemade hummus? All you need is chickpeas, tahini, garlic and olive oil and you will be away!
Love carrots? Then we have got the best sweet kids snack for you! Try our slice of our gorgeous vegan Carrot Cake – you won’t want to share!
We all love a salty snack but crisps can contain excessive salt and other flavourings that don’t give us any beneficial nutritional value. However, vegetable crisps are a great alternative to snack on. Although some shop bought vegetable crisps can still contain unwanted saturated fats, you can easily make your own at home! All you need are the vegetables of your choosing, a grater and a smidge of salt and whatever other flavouring you fancy (maybe some chilli flakes if you’re feeling adventurous!). You grate up your veggies, stick them on a baking tray with some vegetable oil and the seasoning of your choice and once they’ve crisped up nicely, they’re done! You can easily add these to a lunchbox or with a sandwich for kids to snack on.
Sausage rolls are an old time favourite but just because you’ve given up meat, doesn’t mean you have to give up on sausage rolls too! You can use whatever meat alternative you prefer for these but mushrooms work really well as their texture is similar to that of meat. Once you have that, some seasoning and some delicious puff pastry (which you can make from scratch if your baking skills are up to scratch) and you’ve got a super tasty snack that your kids will love. If you’re in need of some further inspiration, BBC Good Food has an excellent recipe that you’re sure to love.
Sometimes the oldies are the goldies, and no snack gets better than old school peanut butter on toast! Simply select the bread of your choice – we recommend gluten-free bread for the ultimate gluten-free snack – and pop it in the toaster. Then spread some gorgeously smooth peanut butter on top and you’ll have a quick, light snack ready in no time! As if that wasn’t enough nutty goodness, you can try our delicious Peanut Butter Brownies or Chocolate Peanut Millionaire Slices.
Now this is a fun snack that all the kids can get involved with! Just buy some skewers and the fruits of your choice. We recommend strawberries, kiwis, bananas, mangos, melons and grapes. Then simply let the kids make their own fruit kebabs! Perfect for the fussiest of eaters as they can tailor the kebab to their taste. Of course always have adult supervision and be careful of those pointy ends!
So what are you waiting for? Start mixing up your kids’ lunchbox today with some of these delicious kid’s snacks. Don’t forget to pick up a Nakd Lunchies bar for the ultimate lunchbox or after school snack. Sounds delicious!
